| Flat Coat
Retriever
If
any of the retriever breeds suffer from an identity crisis it would
have to be the Flat Coat Retriever. To answer many first time
observers, no it is not a long-haired Labrador, and no it is not a
black Golden. That being said, the Flat Coat is a breed all unto
itself. The Flat Coat is a happy and active dog suited for family
life or retrieving in the field.
The flat coat is a beautiful dog with a well put together look
combined with a lean, well-muscled body type. The hallmark of the
breed is its lustrous black coat. The coat is not overly long, but
with good density and fullnews will protect this breed from all
types of weather. Fans of the
breed describe him as a family companion hunting retriever. He is a
highly intelligent, lighthearted, affectionate friend. He is a dog
who needs to be a member of the family and those who make that
connection will be rewarded with his love and affection.
