Pointer

The Pointer was bred for one purpose: to find birds. This sleek, muscular, noble and beautiful breed first appeared in England in 1650 and has a long and glorious history as an excellent companion in the field. As with other pointing breeds, the Pointer is highly intelligent and can demonstrate its hunting instincts at the age of 2 months.

The Pointer is a friendly housedog and makes a great family companion. In addition, the Pointer is considered to be the "Cadillac" of bird dogs. With its one-track mind in the field, the Pointer tends to move fast and cover as much ground as possible to find birds, stand steady to wing and shot and exercise its natural retrieving instincts to deliver game to hand.  When someone speaks of bird dogs this is the breed that most frequently springs to mind.

The sleek appearance of the Pointer is due to its short, dense coat. Colors include liver, lemon, black, and  orange; either in combination with white or solid-colored.
